Wasn't he drafted by the Redskins? Isn't he worthy of an opportunity to play? He is a very accurate passer and can scramble. He has range and did well in reading college defenses.
Is it because he has not bulked up to NFL QB standards?
Just curious.
Being an USC fan, I seldom give ND any credit, but Jimmy Clausen is legit. I think he'll be the best NFL QB out of guys like; Tebow, McCoy, and Bradford.
Tebow, McCoy, and Bradford have great stats, but great stats doesn't translate to NFL success. Just ask Colt Brennan and Ty Detmer. Those 3 guys all run the Spread Offense in College (it wont work in the NFL with defenders being so fast and athletic). The biggest flaw of their games is that their current offensive system doesn't require them to read the defenses.
On the other hand, Clausen runs a Pro-style offense at ND under Charlie Weiss. He's got proficient arm strength and great accuracy. Sure, his stats aren't mind-boggling compared to McCoy's, but like before mentioned college stats are virtually irrelevant.
there's a reason why Clausen was the #1 Hs player in the nation in 2007.
Gregg B- comparing Quinn to Clausen is not rational. First off, Quinn was recruited by Tyrone Williangham, not Weiss. Quinn wasnt really fit for Weiss' offensive system. Secondly, Clausen was a Highschool Phenom, Quinn was lowly-recruited. Thirdly, Clausen has undoubtedly a better arm and intellect than Quinn.
I know that the offense these teams (Houston, Texas Tech, Hawaii, ect.) inflate the quarterback's numbers but if they are throwing it so much more than quarter backs coming from a "pro" style offense like Stafford, they have much more experience throwing the ball and making reads. Why is their draft value always so low?
lets take a look at some of the notable QB's that hail from the awesome state of California:
Active players:
Tom Brady- San Mateo, CA
Carson Palmer- Mission Viejo, CA
Mark Sanchez- Mission Viejo, CA
Colt Brennan- Santa Ana, CA
Matt Leinart- Santa Ana, CA
Trent Edwards-Los Gatos, CA
Jeff Garcia- Gilroy, CA
Aaron Rodgers- Chico, CA
Matt Cassell- Los Angeles, CA
Tony Romo- San Diego, CA
David Carr- Bakersfield, CA
==============================
Retired Greats:
Troy Aikman- West Covina, CA
John Elway- Granada Hills, CA
Dan Fouts- San Francisco, CA
Jim Plunkett-San Jose, CA
Warren Moon- Los Angeles, CA
PA also has some greats like:
Jim Kelly
Rich Gannon
etc. But still no match for CA. Btw, I'm leaving out a lot of guys on my list.
Now that the roster's have been set, who would you personally like the jets to take a look at? I'm not for Brandon Marshall unless the price comes down b/c he's not worth Harris and a first day pick; especially since he's a nuisance. In regards to players cut, I feel like we may want to consider david tyree or ashley lelie. Lelie's an obvious career under-achiever as he showed brilliance in about one or two years of his career and hasn't done anything since. Tyree was of course the superbowl hero, but then again, career wise, he only has 650 career receiving yards. There were other names but nothing major. What do you guys (or gals) think and who else do you think we should pursue, who aren't wide receivers? I was thinking possibly colt brennan as an upgrade to ainge, but it's arguable.
Nobody? Huh?
SIDE NOTE: I AM NOT A REDSKINS FAN, JUST A COLT BRENNAN FAN
anyway
Colt Brennan was placed on the IR, and Chase Daniel was cut. Do you agree with the decision to cut Chase Daniel? This could be bad if Campbell goes down for a long period, because that puts the pressure on Todd Collins. or do you think they will sign another QB?
also, this means that Brennan and Daniel will probably fight for a spot again next year. who will win?
who do you think will win the 3rd string job for the redskins? please have intelligent answers
...
i've heard some people say that Brett Favre is a dirty player because of the block he put on eugene wilson, which has put wilson on the shelf. as of this moment i have no idea how bad his injury is.
my question to you loyal colt brennan cult members is how fucking dumb do you think these people are? like seriously
brett favre has lined up at receiver a grand total of one times, and has probably blocked even less. how the hell can anyone be so stupid as to believe one play defines someone as a dirty player? yes it was a dirty play, but WHAT THE FUCK AMERICA. brett favre is not a dirty player.
question: how stupid do you think football fans are these days on average?
lol no one actually answered the question
i think the skins should cut collins hes getting paid 3 million a year and the only reason he did good a couple years ago is that he knew al saunders system now that saunders is good collins should go brennan played good last pre season and hasnt played as well this preseason but still better than collins and when chase daniel got into the one game hes gotten into he threw 2 tds and brought the skins back against pittsburgh
not that he's colt brennan or anything but he's the guy who has inflated stats causes he passes so much, kinda like colt brennan's JR year at hawaii
I mean he's got skills(just like colt did) but the stats dont paint a clear picture
im not talking about Colt Brennans ability
im talking about how his numbers were severily inflated at Hawaii and the similarities in how Brees' numbers were inflated
Because I remember a couple years ago, Heisman time, him and his butt buddy of a coach both make the argument, "oh, I should win, yeah, Colt should win, because we are in a pro style offense, blah, blah, blah, Tim Tebow sucks because he doesn't play in a good, pro, offense" and I think that in his fantasy mind, being in a pro style offense he should be starting, making tons of money, and look where he is, backup in Washington, and he got picked in a late round...just because of all of this crap, his cocky nature, and everything, I don't like him, and he seems like a tool to me.
Sounds like you are Colt Brennan's coach....
That was HOT. I rarely see that kind of PERFECT throw, not even from Tom Brady (who was looking on the sideline with his mouth wide open if you were watching).
I saw start him. Anyone who has a successful college career like he had is bound to be a STAR on any level. Its just the simple fact of muscle memory. Your muscles remember the good things and the more you do them the more they keep happening.
Btw, I remember his senior year he had that game against Northern Colorado (I believe) where he threw 6 TDs in the first half! Thats crazy, how many QBs throw 6 TDs in a game in their life! let alone a half. If I were June Jones, he would have finished with an NCAA record 13 TDs
Yeah actually I do think Graham Harrell would be a great NFL player, its a shame he has to go to the UFL. I mean I'm especially shocked at the Rams not drafting him and taking Kevin Null(?) from West Texas State (or wherever they got him from, some crappy I-AA school).
If it were up to me Harrell and Daniel would be on NFL rosters (but how dare Daniel try to beat out my favorite player, that b***h)
And btw we've seen Todd collins for years and we know he suks. I don't see the point of him being #2 when he really suks at football
Source: I should be an espn analyst
f*** that! Colt's the man, he's better than any QB on the Redskins.
And a word to Chase, lose some weight you butterball, you can't beat out my guy who has perfect symmetric athleticism with your awkward build and not shaving in 8 months. Face it, you didn't win the national championship like you thought you were going to, you didn't win the heisman, and that was both your fault. Now you're trying to ruin everyone's favorite player. Not happening you bum get a life
Do you think if Jason Campbell has an abysmal game and Colt Brennan does great that Redskin nation will beg Jim Zorn to start Brennan in the final preseason game? Its going to be hard to jump from competing from 3rd to the starter but everyone loves Colt right?
Apparently, the NFL forgot that both of these stellar Big 12 quarterbacks were at 1 point among the top 3 players in the Heisman chase. They were at the top of their game in college. And yet, they've got nothing in the NFL.
Chase Daniel was picked up by the Redskins and is the 4TH STRING QB behind Colt Brennan and TODD COLLINS! (why Todd Collins is ahead of either of them is beyond me, but I digress)
As far as I have seen, Graham Harrell hasn't even been picked up by an NFL team yet!
If you're not going to defend them, then @ least give me some legitimate reasoning here;
WHY HAVE GRAHAM HARRELL AND CHASE DANIEL BEEN FORGOTTEN!?!?!?
Scrw Jason Cambell, he's been in the league for 5 years now and he's had every opportunity to be a good QB.
Colt Brennan is the ultimate comeback story, he went from the Big 12 to a community college to the WAC and became one of the most successful QBs in college football history and Hawaii's first legitimate pro QB. He's proof that people can make good on second chances
I think he should get a chance to start. Forget Todd Collins, he's a bum and Jason Campbell is insecure cause he thinks everyone's trying to get rid of him (whcih wouldn't happen if he just played well)
Really whats the worse that can happen? He's not going to tank the team
its funny because he has the look of both a bum on the street and a potential star. when you see Colt with his stubble and the drunken look in his eyes you can see the guy who got kicked out of Colorado and found his way to a community college in CA.
but when he's clean shaven and smiling he looks like he's the confident leader of the NFL's premier team.
What do you think will become of him in the next 10 years? Out of the league flipping burgers or holding the lombardi trophy?
Should they?
I have the play station 2 version of Madden 10 (yea I know I need to "upgrade", and I was just going through the player ratings. I have a major problem with them. For example, (and these are very unbiased opinions) lendale white and marshawn lynch are 2 of the hardest running backs to tackle. Yet thier break tackle ratings in the game are 77's. Colt Brennan a QB, has a throw power of 74, and Josh Freeman has a throw power of 94. Freeman is a rookie, and I've noticed that a lot of the rookies are over rated in thier attributes while other players are severly underrated. Jason Campbell who had the longest streak this season without an interception. (8 games) has a throw accuracy of 74. Marques Colston the Saints 1 WR has a speed of 79, and lance moore the teams 2 WR has a higher rating then him. Has anyone else noticed theses ratings? I know that you cant overate people. But I feel like the game was rushed, and thrown together without much though into overall ratings in madden. Im definately going to end up changing overalls to what I feel is fair.
But I just wanted to know what other people feel, and how other people are going to rate players. If you dont mind leave about5-10 player ratings that you're changing and specify which attributes you are changing and why.

i play myself
who agrees that colt brennan could be a good QB in the NFL,
he dominated in his preseason a year ago.
im not saying now..
but eventually..
i know the #3 thing but the guys got some talent..
and cowboys fan (i am too)..
why you hate him?
but he hasnt done anything for them.
Do you think he could be a starter in the NFL? If the Redskins traded him, what team do you think would be a good fit for him?
Jason Campbell or Colt brennan
Colt brennan had a magnificient pre season even though it was against 3rd string he was using 3rd string wr linemen, rb etc
I am putting some players tell me what you think depending on what you put i will know if your a True fan or not
Colt Brennan
Todd Collins
Jason Campbell
Dominique Dorsey
Reed Doughty
Andre Carter
Antwaan Randle El
Ladell Betts
i want to know how you think they will do and if you underestimate them or not most ppl do and for the REDSKINS fans i am going to list some players. i want to know what you think about them too
Todd Collins
Dominique Dorsey
Reed Doughty
Colt Brennan
Marcus Mason
Albert Haynesworth
Jason Campbell
Byron Westbrook
Mike Sellers
Jim Zorn (how good of coach)
Colt McCoy
Tim Tebow
Chase Daniel
Colt Brennan
Graham Harrell
I think:
1. Clinton Portis 1. Jason Campbell
2. Marcus Mason 2. Colt Brennan
3. Rock Cartwright 3. Todd Collins
Not a QB rotation just the lineup
I know its kinda stupid I cant choose but I need some help choosing a franchise on madden. My problem is not which team I like best, but I cant decide which uniform I like better. Im choosig between the Colts, Redskins, Seahawks (Yes, I said the Seahawks.), Falcons, or making something similar to the Hawaii footbal uni's (not the new one's, but he ones when colt brennan was there, the all black and then the all white with silver helmet.) I have seen pretty much every opinion on what people think about these...Some like the Colts because its classic and others think it is too plain, but I love it. And yes I know that Im one of the only people that like the Seahwks uni other than those that live in seattle, I admit its not the greatest but there is just something about. Falcons uni's are kinda busy but they look pretty cool to me. And Hawaii again isnt the greatest, but I think it looks pretty mean. So, im open for some help here. And once again, I know my choices here arent the most popular or best looking.
You all like to say that "system QBs" can't make it in the NFL yet Young got taken 3rd overall.
You know what this is? This is just hatred toward lesser successful teams that run spread offense like Texas Tech and Hawaii.
If Texas or Alabama runs a spread offense and their QB puts up the numbers that Graham Harrell and Colt Brennan put up, they'd go in the first or second round.
If they have the physical tools, it shouldn't matter what system they play in, they should be given a chance. Harrell probably didn't play spread offense in HS so he learned it at a big time division I school, so why couldn't he learn a pro style offense in the NFL. I don't get how you can bash him. Give him a chance to learn he's already shown he can do it.
This whole thing is just a facade to say WE HATE CERTAIN QBs
He seems like one of the top quarterbacks playing. He's 6'3", good size for a QB and his stats are phenomenal. I don't see why they are passing up on him, is it maybe because he has a Colt Brennan style?
All around DC the rumors of new quarterbacks coming to the redskins is getting ridiculous. First Cutler, now talking about trading up to get Sanchez. I believe if jason campbell struggles this season, we should give a shot to Colt Brennan or Todd Collins, who ever wins backup in the preseason. Its obvious that the front office doesn't believe in Campbell. Will Colt ever get a shot? Thoughts...
yea he was good in the preseason but that is mostly backups.
he will get murdered with the o-line the redskins have.
why do redskins fan always talk about and hype colt brennan?
Underrated
5. Chad Pennington
4. Matt Moore*
3. Tyler Thigpen
2. Colt Brennan
1. Kyle Orton
Overrated
5. Donovan McNabb
4. Joe Flacco**
3. Jason Campbell***
2. Kerry Collins
1. Ben Roethlisberger
* I think Coach John Fox stuck with Delhomme the whole season because they were winning football games. It didn't become iminently fatal with Delhome at the helm until it was too late.
** Remember, Flacco was given the job because Troy Smith was ill & Kyle Boller was placed on IR. I think Flacco will become fairly good in the league, but I feel he got a little too much hype last year for his efforts.
*** I think it's becoming apparent Campbell can't play in this league. Rumours have already arose Campbell was being shopped in the Cutler carousel. Campbell has played in 1m+ different offensives the past few years. But, I think the real problem is Campbell can't make all the throws.
Kerry Collins was considered overrated when the Titans extended his contract for two years. Not to mention, he gained a lot of credit for the Titans season. It was all they're D and running game.
I was going to say Phillip Rivers, but I would hope everyone realizes by now he's pretty good. I personally didn't care for him till last season. I still think he throws too many balls away, but his footwork will get better.
I'd say Tom Brady is overrated, but only because it seems some people worship the ground he walks on. He definately deserves some credit, but whoever said it first was right, he's no god... or a Manning.
Jay Cutler is definately getting too much hype. He's going to have nothing to work with in Chicago, unless they fix they WR issues.
I think you could throw just about anybody in the "overrated" category. No one is as consistent as Peyton Manning or Tom Brady.
Also, i was unaware Washington picked up Leftwich. Could be a pretty good move for them.
Im wondering if people think with last years preseason performance and working under Jim Zorn for a year proves he can be a starting QB.
Who will have more successful NFL career?
Meaning who will give the most production through their NFL career, in relation to where they are drafted?
ie: tom brady- 6th round pick, or Terrell Davis (former bronco Running back/ borderline hall of famer)- 6th round pick
Last year my Steal of the draft was Colt Brennan- QB (hawii), and i still think that Colt is a starting NFL QB...
BUT Who Is your steal in This years Draft?
IMO it will either be Grham Harrel (QB- Texas Tech), Or Vincent Rhodes (DT Baylor, Child Hood Friend= a lil Bias)
Who is your steal? And PLEASE dont list someone who is projected 2 go in either of the first 2 rounds... GO!
J59- Chase Coffmen is projected by mel Kiper as a late 2nd round pick, i love him 2 but he is NOT a LATE ROUND SLEEPR!
And to all who say Pat White, I will NOT thell you not to use him, but Im not sure he will be a Great NFL QB, I amd a HUGE Pat White fan but im not sold that he is a NFL QB, but what vere team that picks him will give him a chance, and if he isnt a QB he will be a nice return man/ WR... We will see
He is obviously better than Jason Cambell because he is garbage.... If he was on the eagles that would be game over for the NFC east
Since I live in Hawaii, I check out the site uhfootball.blogspot.com often since it gives info on the football team. Now I'm not a big fan of Colt but I guess you could say I'm a little fan.
After Colt's impressive preseason and with Jason Campbell's disappointing crash and burn after that nice start, people started asking if Colt would find a chance to start and Jim Zorn said that he doesn't see Colt unseating Campbell at anytime.
Then recently, when asked about him becoming the backup, Zorn said that Colt will get plenty time in the preseason, but it will be a longshot for Colt to unseat Todd Collins at the number 2 spot. He also said that Collins just needs to show he hasn't lost anything.
So if your Colt Brennan and you hear your coach saying this, what would you do? I mean is it discouraging to hear your coach saying you don't have a chance to even become the number 2 QB or should he just try harder and harder?
He good.shold replace favre. my homies say he good. also whycome u homies r ready 2 induct colt brennan into hall of fame even doh he ain't done jack shit?
Tavaris Jackson
Matt leinart
Vince young
Colt Brennan
Chad henne
Byron leftwich
Seneca wallace
I meant next season, and why?
My predictions -
-Brady will retire with 5 titles
-Al davis will still be alive
-Reggie bush will finally live up to his potential on the cards when he is reunited with leinart
-The first gay Nfl player will come out because the world is ending anyway (tim Tebow)
-College football will have a playoff (yes!!)
-Due to the no salary cap of the NFL in 2010 a player will get the first ever 300 million dollar contract (Jimmy clausen, Philidelphia eagles)
-Colt brennan will finally get to start (on the Titans)....due to vince youngs suicide
-Eagles will still not have a title because of lack of a third down back
-Lions will sell their franchise due to have not won a game since 2008 and the lions will move to LA.
-Last troy aikman will still be talkin trash about what the cowboys do in the offseason as if his cowboy were church boys.
What are ure predictions for nfl in 2012???
-I was the starting qb for U. of Hawaii before colt brennan.
-I was so successful, i broke a couple records in the process.
-My NFL career didn't pan out, but I'm currently in the CFL.
Wow. It was easier than i thought it would be. it was the 1st two clues that did it wasn't it?
Bengals- Every 3-4 years they release all their starting talent on a team, or just dont resign them, gauranteeing they leave next season? aka Rudi , deltha, TJ, Chad, Every bengals offensive lineman ever, Corey dillon...etc they draft pretty descent but always release players, nver trade them to better help the team, just let the contract expire and move on.
Lions- always drafting offense regardless of how many points their defense gave up the season prior- Harrington, rodgers,Williams, and even when theylucked out and got barry sanders, they still drafted offense, no wonder barry retired early.
thats all i can think of...I hear redskins, but i dont see how, Im not a redskins fan but how????snyder brings great talent in, lets, the coaches take over, and pushes fans to vote like crazy u guys have the deepest db roster besides the eagles, an elite wr an elite rb.u guys always have key injuries , but how is he a bad owner??? and u guys draft great....ie colt brennan, laron landry...etc..
If u can think of any others, please put them in and y.
and the 1 quality defender theyve ever had, they give to the browns??? even though they have a ton of cap room to keep him (shaun rodgers)
simms is overated,he can tacle but he is horrible at coverage, hed be better in a 3-4 system.
Now i dont follow college football at all, so when i hear about a guy in college football everytime i turn on the tv it intrigues me, and then when i hear all time records have been broken i say''wow....... y did this guy get drafted in the 7th and 6th round???
look at these stats:
Some of Brennan's achievements include:
NCAA record for most career touchdowns responsible for (146). Achieved November 23, 2007.
NCAA record for most 400 yard games (20). Achieved in 2007.
Tied NCAA record for most career touchdown passes by a quarterback-receiver combination (39 to Davone Bess). Achieved November 23, 2007.
NCAA single-season record for most touchdown passes, achieved in 2006 (58)
NCAA two-season record for most touchdown passes, (96, achieved 2006-2007)
NCAA record for passing efficiency (season), posting a 186.0 mark in 2006
NCAA record for most points responsible for (season) with 385. (2006)
NCAA record for highest pass completion percentage (70.4%).
Second all-time in career touchdown passes (131) behind Graham Harrell.
Fourth all-time in total passing yards with 14,193 behind Graham Harrell, Ty Detmer and Timmy Chang.
why was he drafted so late??? From what i hear he was the best pre-season qb in the nfl, but zorn still started cambell.......But now...seeing how the season ended.......would it be so bad for him to start next season??????
Brennan led all 2008 NFL rookies in touchdown passes, passing yards and quarterback rating through the preseason.[21] He finished the 2008 preseason with a strong performance, going 36-for-53, for 411 yards and three touchdowns and with no interceptions. For the preseason, Brennan's completion percentage was 67.9% and his quarterback rating was 109.9. He also carried the ball twice for 11 yards.
[...or is it just me??????
5,549 yards, 58 touchdowns in 2006... wow
I mean for me, its not the fact that he did it on good or bad defenses, its the fact that he did it at all,How many players play bad defenses and put up bad stats.
If it was that easy wouldnt passing stats always be broken????....just my opinion on the guy.
I only say tom brady because of how late he was drafted
Okay. The man who owns the NCAA passing yards record is Timmy Chang(University of Hawaii.) The single season touchdown pass record and completion percentage holder is Colt Brennan(University of Hawaii.) Chang was picked low in the draft and cut. Now he plays in the Canadian leagues. Brennan got picked sixth round. See the weird trend? Yes, I know both never won any big awards or lead their team high in the standings. But with those numbers wouldn't they be first pick?.
