I would like to hear from taurus handgun owners. I am interested in these two pistols...Im leaning more towards the model 92, but it is a large gun and a bit more expensive. Can anyone tell me about these two firearms (reliability, accuracy, recoil, etc.)?

I am looking to trade my Glock 19 (9mm) for a Taurus pt145 (.45) for my everyday carry handgun. I have just heard so many bad things about the 9mm that it almost scares me to carry it. Whether it be the "lack of punch", or the overpenetration of the round. I have heard great things about the 45 and also, it is a sub compact pistol as well. Thank you

I'm most interested in these ten. I am looking for something that carries at least 15 rounds, is lightweight, easy to conceal, and is made of excellent quality for a price that won't make me go broke.
Please rank from best to worst.

1. Glock-19
2. FNP-9
3. Sig P-250
4. Springfield XD-9
5. Ruger SR-9
6. Walther PPS
7. Smith & Wesson M&P-9
8. Taurus 24/7 PRO
9. Beretta 92fs
10. Beretta Px4 Storm
Which is most accurate

Based on your recommendations, here is the list that I came up with so far:

Sig P250
Ruger SR9/P95
Glock 17, 19 (C)
Springfield XD-9/XD-M
Beretta 92FS, 90two
CZ 75 and variants
FNP9
Taurus Millennium Pro
S&W Sigma

Does anyone have any objections with this list? Are there any that I should add or subtract? If so, why?

Tuarus PT945 .45 ACP Taurus PT92 AF 9mm
Taurus Single Action .357 Magnum/.38 Special
Ruger Single Action .22LR/.22Mag

recently i found myself looking at 9mm pistols. I started out looking mostly at the XD9 line of handguns but thought of everything that the Taurus 99 has that the springfield doesn't. I definitely like the looks better on the Taurus but I like the Springfields looks alright too. My question is is there that big of a difference in the reliability department to spend the extra 50 dollars on the Springfield? They feel about the same and I like them about equal. and if i decide that i dont like either one i can trade it in for the same price I paid because after all my great uncle owns the shop.

due to a birth defect. I would also like to be able to shoot it if possible. She has faily large hands for a female just short thumbs. Would prefer used due to the cost in a 9mm or greater. Was looking taurus but not sure about what is good for her. This would be for concealed carry. Should I go short barrel? or full size?

I am getting ready to enter a police academy and need advice on which handgun to purchase. I don't want a revolver and don't have a fortune to spend. $300 or so. I don't want to buy a hi-point because of bad reviews, but I can not afford a Taurus, because they are almost $500. What is a good in between gun. Oh, 9mm or .380

Glock? H&K? Springfield XD9? Sig? Ruger? Beretta? Taurus? Doesnt matter whether its metal or polymer framed i just want the BEST somethin that is reliable. Any other brands im open to but i want the overall BEST

I am turning 21 in a few months and am trying to decide on a handgun to buy. I have narrowed it down to a few choices so far and was wondering if anyone that owned these guns could tell me a little bit about what you think (pros and cons), not crap like "the glock will never break!". I know that obviouslly but I am never going to throw it off a mountain or drive over it with a pick-up or bury it in mud. I am just going to use it for target shooting and personal defense. So here are the guns:

Glock- did not decide which model, either full size or compact, and either 9mm or .40 cal.

Springfield XDM- same, either 9mm or .40 cal.

Taurus 24/7 OSS Tactical- .45ACP, 5.25 in barell, 12+1 round capacity

I am leaning more towards the Taurus just because it feels best holding it in my hands but I have heard that some are lemons and do not work right. However they have a lifetime warranty and people say that once they send them back to get fixed then they shoot great. If I do get a .45 or a .40 then I will probably get a 9mm down the road for something cheaper to shoot. Thanks in advance for your opinion.

i have a savage 22 semi auto with scope, and a savage single shot/ break away 12 gauge...both are used but in great condition

I'm looking to buy a 9mm for a home defense gun and possibly to CC. I have 2 shotguns and a rifle but am a novice when it comes to handguns. I am planning on taking a gun safety course. I'd like to know if anyone makes a 9mm semi-automatic with a manual safety and with a grip safety. I want both safety features on the gun. Any input is greatly appreciated. I've looked at Beretta, Ruger, Taurus, Browning, S&W, Walther, Glock, Springfield, Star, Bersa, Kimber, Sig, Hi-Point, and HK.

I'm looking to buy a handgun. I want to use it mainly for home defense but would also like to be able to carry it if I choose to get a CC permit. I don't want to buy 2 different guns. Does anyone have any suggestions on what might fit both of my needs. It doesn't matter if it's a 9mm, .40 cal, .45 cal, etc. I'd like manufactuers and actual models that people have. I've looked at Ruger, Glock, Springfield, S&W, Taurus, and para ordinance. I really don't want to spend more than $500 or so. Any input is appreciated.

I am in the process of buying my first handgun, a taurus 24/7 oss ls 3rd gen 9mm. I have been searching but have had no luck. I am hoping some one could give me some help.

I want to know if I can hunt deer in Wisconsin with a Taurus 24-7 9mm pistol?

I have narrowed down my options to: a Glock 20, a Taurus 92 with a 17 round mag in 9mm, a Taurus 24/7 oss in .45 acp, or a Taurus 809-9mm. I own a Glock 22 so if you can compare these pistols to it I would appreciate it. Pistol price is not a huge deal but I think all these are in the same range. Ammo price is also not a problem as I do not shoot much. The main use for this pistol will be target practice although I might take it hunting for a backup every now and then. Accuracy is of course very important to me as is reliability and long life.
I am talking about real guns that fire real bullets, make noise, and kill stuff. Not airsoft. I already have all the airsoft guns I ever want.
I am not looking for a hunting handgun (even though in Colorado I can legally hunt with my Glock 22). I just want a handgun that is reliable, accurate, and can have a lot of rounds go through it.

A man who i know wants to trade a handgun with me and wants to get a carying permit for it and im not sure how that kinda stuff works. and i seriously need some help because i dont know the whole legal deal. if its not legal what can i do to get it legal. I was wondering because it seems to be a pretty inexpensive pistol. i just want it so i can have one in my glove box. i plan on leaving the clip full of hollow tips. will they jam in this gun?

I just got the gun about a week and satisfied with it so far. The only problem I got with it is when it jams, maybe because of the way I put my ammo in the mag or I don't know. How would other guns like s&w, glock, taurus, and etc compare to the hi-point?

I have a Taurus Pt99 9mm semi auto handgun, and I can't find my owners manual for it, and I was wondering if it would be safe to use +p and +p+ ammo in it. The gun is about 10-12 years old and in good condition.

Thank you in advance for all your input.

I'm looking into purchasing my first pistol, and I've narrowed it down to one of these two pistols. I'll be 21 in August, and as such, will be on a budget, but still don't want to get a crappy weapon.

Since it will be my first gun, I want one with good ergonomics, so it will be comfortable. I also want a gun with low recoil, so I can build confidence while I'm learning (these are both 9mm, so I don't think that will be a problem?).

From everything I read, the Glock 17 is very reliable, and can stand up to a lot. I've been able to handle it, and it feels OK, although I don't like the location of the mag release, or the lack of an external safety. I can get this Glock for $499.

The Taurus, on the other hand, is extremely comfortable, and I like the feel of everything on it. My concern is durability. I've read that it's quite good (NRA handgun of the year), but it doesn't have the aura surrounding it like Glock does. It costs $349.

If the Taurus is just as durable, should I get it?

Ok, I think I can buy 1 more gun before my wife decides to flip out. I have been researching subcompact pistols. I really want the 9mm Springfield XD but costs just a little too much, which leaves the taurus millennium pro 9mm. Is there any other gun in this price range that you think is decent? Also, I have been checking out revolvers becuase of the reliability BUT they don't seem to have good sights nor have good safety features(safety #1 priority). Can you recommend any good revolvers with what I'm looking for? Bonus Question: are there any guns that shoot .38 sp, .380's and 9mm rounds? Thanks!

How to buyers select their first handgun?? is it like car shopping...basically pick one that looks cool right?? What do you look for when you go gun shopping?? i want a handgun..No shotugn no revolver...But I'm not sure on which one to buy. and what to look for...Any suggestions??? im leanin towards a Glock Milliniuem PRO...or a 9mm Taurus...any suggestions people???? its not to go hunting or anything..just to shoot at the shooting range for fun

I've been looking to buy a couple handguns and as far a pistol goes, I've pretty much decided on a s&w m&p 9mm with the 17 round mag. But for a revolver, I've been looking for something with a lot of power but also with relatively good accuracy. I'll probably end up getting a Taurus .357 mag. or maybe a Rossi but I don't know a lot about either of the two as far as the quality I'll be receiving. However I'm kind of on a tight budget so those are some of the cheaper revolvers that I've found. Any information, comments, or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Here are my options any thoughts on which is better than the other?
Springfield XD 9mm
Smith & Wesson Sigma 9mm
Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm
Taurus Millennium Pro 9mm
Ruger SR9
Desert Eagle 9mm (Baby Eagle)

i can get these guns for $325 - $500 so $500 is my budget. If you have any other suggestions i'm open for them!
Thanks again for answering!

Some background---I own my own convenience store and am thinking about buying a vest for protection. I keep a taurus model 85 .38 special revolver under the counter. I realize rifle bullets can penetrate such a vest but it is unlikely I would be robbed by someone with a rifle---not out of the question, but unlikely. So are there any handgun rounds I would need to worry about? I know a FMJ 9mm has high penetration. Could it go thru a bullet-proof vest? Or am I ok? Are there any handgun rounds at all which could penetrate a kevlar vest?

I am interested in purchasing a handgun for home defense and periodic range shooting. I expect to get moderate use out of the gun during target practice. I am not in the military or law enforcement but I want a good dependable firearm. I have heard a lot of good and bad about all of these models especially the glock but I wanted some insight from someone who is not trying to sell me a product. I have seen all of these firearms up close but have only had (or will have) the opportunity to test fire the glock 17 at my local range. I am most interested in hearing about gun jams, failures, dependability, feel of the gun, safety issues, etc. Pretty much any insight would be helpful! Also, if anyone has another suggestion for a good firearm not listed it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I just purchased a Taurus PT 24/7 Pro 9mm handgun. I was wondering where I could get decent laser sightings for it for a reasonable price. I have seen that NCStar has them for like $17.00 (sale price) for the ones with the weaver base, but I dont know if they would fit my gun or even if they are any good. I dont believe the gun can accept an internal laser system so I am wondering what my options are as far as a good budget laser sighting system.
I have also looked at Laserlyte's universal rail mounted laser that goes for about $80.00. Is this opne any good or should I shop around it bit more. It is not something I will be using all the time. It is for a gun for home defense. Under high stress and low light in the house at night, I want my wife to be able to hit what she is aiming at with little problem if I am not there.

I am looking into buying a small, semi-auto handgun for concealed carry, preferably one with a 3" or smaller barrel (my S&W Sigma is kind of uncomfortable to carry, despite being a somewhat small weapon). .32 cal would be ideal, but .38/9mm is fine as well. I'm not looking for anything too cheap, but not anything expensive either--a Walther PP or Springfield XD (which is too big anyway) is a tad out of my price range. I know Taurus has a line of handguns that meet my size requirements, however, I believe they only go up to .25 cal, but correct me if I'm wrong. Any which way you can point me would be a great help. Thanks in advance!

I just picked up a chrome Taurus PT 99 AS in 9mm. The shop I bought it from also had a Browning High Power 9mm that has Nazi stamps on it. I am wondering which of the two is the better handgun. I plan to give my son the Taurus but I want to add the Browning to my collection of WWII hand guns. Opinions please.

Hello all, i am going to be buying a 9mm handgun. This will be my 2nd handgun. I have been learning on a Ruger .22 Mk 1 target. Now i am ready for a new gun.

I do not know which gun to get their are so many and just when i find one that i like i hear many people telling me choose another. here are the ones i like.

Most Importantly it has to be accurate, and be under $400 or around there.

Ruger P89
Ruger P95
Taurus PT92
Taurus 24/7

I do not know which to choose.

If you have other recommendations let me know just keep them along the lines of the guns i have chosen.....i am very confused so many opinions and guns to choose from.... and accuracy is first....

thank you....

the purpose is for target shooting...plus bedroom

Taurus, Glock, Smith and Wesson? 9mm, 40 cal., or 38?

preferably for my Taurus Millenium Pro 9mm compact, but if not for that then for a Springfield Armory .45 ACP 1911 model??

also how much should i expect to pay brand new?

best answer WILL get a best answer.

Springfield XD-9 or Taurus PT99

Yesterday I fired off handguns for the first time. First was a Glock 19, at 10 yards all 10 rounds went in the first 2 rings of the silhouette. The next 10 I was aiming for the head, none of them hit. All the shots grouped on the right shoulder for some reason, perhaps bad trigger control? Next I fired off my friend's Kimber Tactical Pro at 15 yards, all 9 were headshots. I was very proud of myself because this was my first time touching a real handgun. I felt 10x more accurate with the Kimber, possibly from its excellent trigger pull and light weight.

I want to buy an inexpensive ($500-600) 9mm pistol with a 5in barrel. I plan to do a lot of target shooting and that IDPA stuff looks very appealing to me. I don't care about how many safeties or indicators a gun has and don't plan on using it for home defense.

The XD-9 and PT99 seem to be my best options, which should I choose and why, or is there something better that I missed?

I am considering a Taurus PT model .45 caliber or a S&W Sigma .40 caliber. Do you have any suggestions or review of these guns? I already have a Ruger 9mm and want a different caliber.
I should clairfy that I am interested in either the Tauraus PT745C (6 rounds) or PT145 (10 rounds). This is in .45 caliber. The S&W sigma I am considering is a .40.

The Taurus 6 rounds is $329 and the 10 round is $349. The Sigma is around $350.

I own a 9mm taurus PT92AF model, but I came across a norinco .45 1911 model and a s&w .40. Which one should I choose? Which one is better? Thanks for your answers

is it a 9mm, cal.32, .40,.45? what brand? glock, taurus, para-ordnance, smith and wesson?
